As the snow builds up on the hoop house, it slides down and seals the perimeter of the hoop house. This blocks the wind and allows the inside of the hoop house to maintain a warmer temperature.
Because of the extreme cold, we put the horse trough heater in the pond. Just in case we need it. Last winter, we went the whole winter without plugging it in. Our water temperature is currently holding at 47. Water temperature dropping below 36 is dangerous for Koi.
